Kitchen Layouts That Actually Work for Cooking

The classic “work triangle” between hob, sink and fridge is still a useful starting point, but modern kitchens with islands and open-plan living need a bit more thought, particularly around traffic flow when more than one person is cooking, or when a kitchen doubles as a route through to the garden.

We spend time at the design stage walking through how a kitchen will actually be used — where bins and recycling live, how far the fridge is from the car for unloading shopping, whether the island blocks a natural walkway — because these details matter more day to day than the finish on the doors.
